Just some thoughts on Elder Teh's Conference Talk "Out of Small Things"

“We need to enlarge the circle of our influence” I think that is so profound. It calls to us as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to step it up. We are asked to do more, to be more and also to take responsibility for how we are influencing others. I think one of the greatest parts of the Gospel is that it requires something of us. We are not asked to sit idly by. There is no room for passiveness, no room to stop or slow down. I must always be moving forward, always be actively involved, always reaching out for others. One of my favorite principles of the Gospel is that we are to “mourn with those that mourn; yea, and comfort those that stand in need of comfort.” That scripture is one that I want to base my life on. You are my sisters and my brothers – I will be where you need me to be, I will do what you need me to do, I will say what you need me to say. (Just like the hymn!) Just let me know what I can do, and I will do my best.

Honestly, that's what I like about the gospel too, that we're required to do things. The reason that I like it is because it's through those requirements we can become great. It's through smiling at people and through "being there" even when we walk a hard road ourselves that our spirits are lifted and our characters are made strong.

After all, if one day we shall know him because "when he shall appear we shall be like him, [and] we shall see him as he is," (http://scriptures.lds.org/en/moro/7/48#48) then we must be challenged a little so we can be worthy of that day, no?

Thanks for your thoughts girl!
